EDGEWATER, Colo. – Police said a man stabbed himself, then said he was attacked by three men dressed in black who were either Hispanic or skinheads, in a ploy to miss work. Police arrested a 29-year-old man after he allegedly admitted he made up the assault and said he was responsible for the knife wound to his leg and other superficial cuts on his body. He faces charges of false reporting and obstructing a police officer.

Police said the man reported the attack to the video store where he works on Monday. The reported assault drew five police agencies to the scene and K-9 units.

Police spokesman Steve Davis said the man admitted the story was a lie after repeated questioning from detectives.

Although this guy is probably a nut bag freak that few of us would actually be friends with, I feel a bit sorry for the guy. Can you imagine what his situation must be like that he so badly does not want to show up for work, but cannot loose his job so he resorts to stabbing himself in order to have a valid excuse for not showing up? His life must completely suck. I hope he's not married, cuz if he is, I think he must make her life suck as well. That exquisite specimine of misery is too special to share...lets hope he keeps it to himself.

I'm with you, I feel bad for him also. Wtf? Who does that? I'd say his issues go a little deeper than just not wanting to go to work. As far as being married, let's hope not. What happens when he doesn't want to attend his wife's company christmas party? Would he lock her in a closet and report her missing?

Somehow, I wouldn't really be suprised...and when she got out after he confessed to that stupidity as well, she might really kick him so hard his nuts fall out his ears.

I think this part of the story might have caused the detectives to dig a little deeper.
